I have been told on the very best of authority that this coin is a fake of some sort because Appius Claudius Martialis wasn't to be governor of Thrace until Marcus Aurelius.  This is all true, more than likely.  However many Roman names continued down through the generations, and inscriptions can sometimes be mis-assigned.  Gorny & Mosch recently sold a similar coin at auction (auction 241, lot 1769), so if I'm wrong I'm at least in good company, and this probably isn't the only fake in my collection, sad to have to admit.
